Privacy Policy

Who we are

myFAOS is a free, open-source family organizer. It is operated as an independent project by its maintainer. For any privacy question or request, contact us at johannes.gnadlinger1997@gmail.com.

This policy explains what data the app processes, where it is stored, and what rights you have. The source code is public on GitHub, so everything described here can be verified.

What data we store

Account data: your email address, display name, and an internal user ID, created when you sign up with email/password or Google.

Family data: everything your family enters into the app — calendar events, tasks, meal plans, recipes, shopping items, gift ideas and budgets, uploaded documents, and health records such as vaccinations. This can include the names and birthdays of your children, which you add under your own parental responsibility.

Preferences such as language, theme, and dashboard layout are stored only in your browser (localStorage) and never leave your device.

We do not collect analytics, usage tracking, or advertising identifiers, and we never sell or share data for marketing.

Where your data lives

Authentication and the database are provided by Google Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC). Your data is stored in Google’s cloud infrastructure and processed under Google’s data processing terms.

Uploaded images and documents are stored with Cloudinary. Documents in the Document Vault are encrypted in your browser (AES-256-GCM) before upload, so the storage provider only ever receives encrypted files.

The website and its API are hosted on Vercel.

Who can see your data

Family data is only visible to members of your family — people who joined with your invite code. Access is enforced by database security rules.

Cookies and local storage

We use no advertising or analytics cookies. The app stores your sign-in session and UI preferences in your browser’s local storage, which is strictly necessary for the app to function.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing.

You can export your family’s complete data at any time from Settings → Data. To delete your account and its data, contact us at the address above and we will remove it without undue delay.

Children’s data

Information about children (names, birthdays, vaccination records) is entered voluntarily by their parents or guardians, who remain responsible for it. Children do not use the app themselves and no data is collected from them directly.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date. Substantial changes will be announced in the app.
